Mun Donates to Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia)

Sydney, Australia, 19th June 2020 – Mun Australia has committed $10,000 to support the work of the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) (BKFA). This donation will allow BKFA to continue to run activities that support and raise awareness to have a clean and safe birthing environment for mothers in developing countries. This is an issue that affects millions of people around the world, and ultimately takes the life of 300,000 mothers each year who do not have access to this.

For over 5 years, Mun Australia has been able to not only provide financial support to BKFA but also donate millions of examination gloves for the birthing kits themselves. Together with Mun Australia’s glove and cash donations, BFKA has been able to assemble over 140,000 birthing kits annually, with each kit containing two exam gloves, a plastic sheet, soap, three cords, five gauze squares and a sterile scalpel blade. With this birthing kit, expectant mothers stand a better chance of not becoming susceptible to infection during and after childbirth.

Len Brown, General Manager of Mun Australia stated “I’m proud of being able to support the work that the BKFA does around the world. Mun has always believed in being able to give back to the community and through this donation, we can affect the lives of women and children for the better.”
